PREOSPORT® IS A COVERED SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL AREA, WITH FREE ACCESS, ACCESSIBLE ALL YEAR ROUND. DESIGNED AS A GENUINE OPEN AIR GYMNASIUM, IT CAN BE USED BY ALL AND IN ALL WEATHER.
Our textile membrane roofs have a 17 year guarantee. Their curved shapes inspired by the world’s major sports facilities are intemporal.
LOCAL AUTHORITIES can build 10 PREOSPORT® structures.
PREOSPORT® is suitable for both the refurbishment of sports facilities and for the creation of a completely new covered sports & leisure facility.
Its opening to the exterior is a permanent invitation to sports activities and contributes to urban life, with both fun and social aspects, by encouraging encounters and exchanges whatever the weather.
In the current context where “eating and moving” is a recurring theme, practising outdoor sports is beneficial to physical fitness and makes it possible to combine theory with practice by encouraging the young and less young to exercise freely thanks to unrestrained access to the environment.
For several years, the Syndicat Interdépartemental des Parcs des Sports (SIPS) 75-93, has had three PREOSPORT®facilities and is totally satisfied with them. Didier Gheux, the managing director, explains the main reasons why.
SINCE WHEN AND WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO SET UP PREOSPORT® FACILITIES?
SIPS 75-93, a public body financed by the Conseil Général de Seine Saint-Denis and the City of Paris, has two parks: one 30 hectare park in La Courneuve and a 12 hectare park in Bobigny. They both have several sports facilities (large pitches, tennis courts,…). However, there was a conflict in use between the clubs that have time slots and the young population in the neighbouring housing who wanted permanent free access. Furthermore, we didn’t have the possibility of building a multitude of gymnasiums, but at the same time we needed covered sports facilities for schools.
Therefore, in 2009, we decided to install two PREOSPORT® units in La Courneuve. Then, following their success, a third one was built in 2013 and another the same year on the Bobigny site.
IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS OF A PREOSPORT® FACILITY?
First of all, the fact that it is a closed structure which is connected to the outdoors. Indeed, young people don’t like being indoors, but they still need shelter to be able to play in bad weather. So it’s the perfect compromise. Moreover, this type of structure makes it possible to accommodate different users for different sports activities. The PREOSPORT® facilities are mainly used for basketball and football, especially for 5 or 7-a-side matches, which is useful because it’s the most popular and doesn’t take up half a large pitch. Nevertheless, we are also considering using them for other sports, such as 3 x 3 basketball or outdoor body building. I even think it could be possible to use a PREOSPORT® to shelter other facilities, such as a beach volleyball court, which would make it possible to play so-called “outdoor” sports all year round.
SO IT’S A VERY BUSY STRUCTURE?
Of course: proportionally, it’s the most used sports facility on both sites. It’s very popular with local youngsters, schools and clubs.
