TENNIS HALL – JOINVILLE (FRANCE)

Design and construction of a tennis hall in Joinville, France.

SMC2 was responsible for the construction of a covered tennis hall measuring approximately 36m x 36m. This is a sports facility consisting of 2 tennis courts and an entrance lobby.

The structure is a combination of timber and steel. The roof and facades are made of textile membrane with one façade screen-printed in the city’s colours. SMC2 designs its projects with the athlete’s comfort at the heart of its designs. This is why SMC2 opt for stretched fabric: its translucency and flexibility allow tennis players to benefit from acoustic, light and thermal comfort. Sound does not reverberate off the walls, while the sun’s rays illuminate the courts without overheating the tennis hall.

The entrance lobby was built with glulam timber frame and insulated sandwich panel roof.

This indoor tennis hall was built using a construction system designed to limit the environmental impact of the building, as part of the eco-responsible approach undertaken by SMC2.
