BOULODROME – BERCK-SUR-MER (FRANCE)
COMPLETION DATE 2024
SURFACE AREA 765.55 M2
Construction of a covered boulodrome combining aesthetics, comfort, and simplicity in Berck-sur-Mer in France.
This new building offers pétanque enthusiasts a sheltered, bright, and functional playing environment all year round.
The architecture of the indoor boulodrome stands out thanks to its mixed structure, combining glued laminated timber and galvanized steel. This structural choice provides excellent stability, enhanced durability, and a warm aesthetic that is perfectly suited to a local sports facility. The entire structure is covered with a tensioned fabric roof, offering excellent protection from the elements while allowing natural, diffuse light to filter through—ideal for player comfort.
The upper façades are also clad with tensioned fabric, ensuring aesthetic continuity and good interior brightness. At the base, openwork wooden cladding surrounds the building, providing a neat and natural finish.
One particularly appreciated feature of this structure is its excellent acoustic comfort. Thanks to the flexibility of the fabric, sound waves do not resonate as they would in conventional metal structures. This significantly reduces echo and creates a much more pleasant atmosphere, especially during competitions where concentration and communication are key.
The natural ventilation system ensures constant air renewal without the need for complex mechanical installations, making the facility both economical and environmentally friendly to operate. A 500-lux lighting system completes the setup, guaranteeing optimal visibility for players—even in the evening or during bad weather.
The new indoor boulodrome in Berck-sur-Mer successfully combines technical simplicity, user comfort, and architectural elegance.
