Design and construction of a gymnasium in Bexhill (UK)
SMC2 has built a 785m² multi-sports gymnasium. The hall offers optimal comfort to the athletes. The roofing and facades are made of textile membrane, so the players benefit from a beautiful natural light during the day, which is more pleasant for practising their sport and a source of savings by reducing the use of artificial lighting.
The building was designed to consume as little energy as possible and to have a limited environmental impact. This is why we are using wood for our roof structure. In addition to its aesthetic and technical qualities, wood stores CO2. It is therefore a precious ally in the fight against pollution.
Finally, this gymnasium offers thermal comfort. The combination of efficient ventilation, a high-performance hygrothermal system and the textile membrane that reflects the sun’s rays ensures a pleasant temperature in both summer and winter, thus limiting the building’s operating costs in terms of air conditioning and heating.
