PREO CANOPY – Z5 ISTRES (FRANCE)

Design and construction of a preo canopy to cover 4 football pitches at Zidane Sport Concept.

SMC2 has built a 60 x 47m sports arena to cover the 4 football pitches of the new Zidane Sport Concept which has opened in Istres, in the south of France. This Preo canopy is made by a glued laminated timber and hot-dip galvanised steel structure.  The roof is made of textile membrane while the facades are made of micro-perforated textile membrane. 3 facades are screen-printed for a unique and personalised look.

With this structure, Z5 members are guaranteed to be able to play football in the best conditions all year round. The textile membrane protects the pitches from the bad weather while allowing natural light to pass through. The white, flexible fabric guarantees thermal and acoustic comfort.

Our team was present on the day of the inauguration of this bright, comfortable and environmentally friendly sports building, as the SMC2 construction system limits the environmental impact of its structures.
