Design and construction of a sports complex in Riom (France)
SMC2 has now built the Riom sports complex, a 1,575 m² structure designed to enable schoolchildren to practice a variety of sports.
The complex comprises three areas: a gymnasium with a mixed timber and steel structure and a textile membrane roof, a dojo, as well as sanitary facilities, changing rooms and offices.
Children can practice their sport all year round in optimal conditions, protected from the elements and the heat. The translucent textile membrane brings natural light to the pitch for optimal sports practice. Its white color reflects the sun’s rays to prevent heat build-up in the gymnasium.
As for the city, it benefits from a sports facility with limited environmental impact and lower operating costs, thanks to the absence of artificial lighting during the day.
