Design and construction of a sports hall in Paris Courteline (France)
SMC2 built a sports hall in Paris Courteline, 39m long and 21m wide. Its foundations are made of concrete micropyles. The framework is a mixed wood and steel structure with round larch posts. The roof is made of textile membrane and the facades of micro-perforated fabric. Schoolchildren are thus protected from rain and wind, but also from the sun’s UV rays in summer. They can enjoy their outdoor sports during break time without worrying about the weather.
The translucency of the textile membrane gives schoolchildren a bright space to play in, while ensuring thermal and acoustic comfort. The flexibility of the stretched fabric prevents sound reverberation, while its white colour reflects the sun’s rays.
A storage room completes this project, designed with insulated timber frame walls.
