Design and construction of a double tennis hall in Ochtrup, Germany

SMC2 has built a 1687m² tennis hall in Ochtrup, Germany. The load-bearing structure is made of glulam timber and galvanised steel, with a textile membrane roof. The façades on the upper section are also made of textile membrane, while sandwich panels are used on the lower section.

The SMC2 promise of acoustic and thermal comfort is guaranteed in this project. The translucency of the textile membrane allows the two tennis courts to be lit by natural light during the day. The flexibility of the membrane also prevents sound reverberation, keeping the noise level down. Finally, mechanical ventilation combined with a thermal regulator and the use of white fabric ensure a pleasant temperature all year round.

Covering the two tennis courts guarantees year-round use: the weather will no longer be an obstacle to play this racket sport.
