A high-performance, sustainable facility for the indoor tennis hall in Margny-lès-Compiègne in France

SMC2 designed and built a 36.1 m x 36.1 m indoor tennis hall, covering two tennis courts for a total surface area of approximately 1,430 m². This project perfectly illustrates SMC2’s expertise in constructing indoor tennis facilities that combine playing comfort, energy efficiency, and long-lasting materials.

The roof structure combines glued-laminated timber and galvanized steel, offering both strength and lightness with a refined architectural design.

The roofing system features a perforated steel deck, high-performance insulation, and a double-layer waterproof membrane specifically designed to support photovoltaic panels—reinforcing the project’s commitment to responsible energy use.

The façades combine translucent polycarbonate panels at the top to maximize natural daylight and wooden cladding at the bottom for seamless integration into the surrounding environment.

A 129 m² (8.43 m x 15.3 m) clubhouse, built with a timber frame and CLT floor, completes the complex. It provides a warm, welcoming space for players and visitors alike.
