Design and construction of a tennis hall in Sainte Foy Les Lyons (France)

SMC2 has built the indoor tennis hall in Sainte Foy Les Lyon, France.

The foundations were designed and build with technopiles and the frame is a combination of timber and steel. The textile membrane – a key element of SMC2 construction –  with its luminous, acoustic and ecological virtues is on the roof and facades. One of the facades is screen-printed as requested by our client. SMC2 also provided rainwater management using a lacquered gutter and rainwater downpipe (DEP).

This turnkey tennis hall was designed to offer optimal comfort to players and to allow them to practice their sport all year round without being hindered by bad weather. Playing indoors, the athletes can still enjoy natural light thanks to the translucency of the textile membrane. The sound does not reverberate off the walls, so there is no resonance giving acoustic comfort during the match. Finally, with efficient ventilation and hygrothermal system, the temperature is optimal for playing all year round. There is no need for overheating in winter or air conditioning in summer, making the building economical to operate.
