SMC2 proposes a cost effective and environmentally friendly concept: temperate tennis courts at up to 12°C.Temperate tennis courts to 12°C are built using single or double wall textile covers.
Thermal comfort is provided by gas radiant panels combined with an exclusive SMC2 air handling system.
FOCUS: THE ISTRES PROJECT (13)
The Istres tennis club, with 500 members, was cramped in the town centre. It was therefore decided to build a large complex with several courts.
« It had become an essential project for the club, but also for the town, which hosts an international junior tournament every year in April. This project was therefore both non-profit and event-driven », says Thierry Blanc, the town’s sports director.
A first phase of work was delivered in 2006 with seven outdoor courts, of which six were clay courts and one hard. The town wanted to complete this René Davini sports complex with four covered courts, four squash courts, including a central court with a 100-seat stand and a club house with various meeting rooms.
This 3,000 m2 structure, designed and built by SMC2, has two original features: on the one hand, the courts are covered with a translucent textile membrane roof offering light during the day, eliminating the need for additional lighting, but in addition, the town has set up a system for leisure use and another specific system for competitions when lighting is needed.
TECHNICALLY
Our textile membrane roofs have a 17 year guarantee. Their curved shapes inspired by the world’s major sports facilities are intemporal.
The air handling and double-walled roof provide thermal comfort without any risk of condensation.
FINANCIALLY
ECOLOGICALLY
Building a temperate tennis court is a smart way to control your budgets and protect our planet.
The facades are studied jointly with the architects to allow the structure to merge perfectly into its context and its site with compositions using all wall coverings: metal, wood, composite or mineral cladding… The textile facades can be screen printed to customise the structure and stage it.
SMC2 building systems have CSTB technical agreements.
