Tempered gymnasium in Bayon (FR): performance and comfort for sports activities
SMC2 delivered a tempered gymnasium in Bayon measuring 22 m x 36 m, designed to provide a high-performance and comfortable environment for a wide range of sports activities. This facility combines innovative construction techniques with high-quality equipment to meet the needs of schools, sports clubs and local authorities alike.
The main structure is based on a timber frame, a natural and durable material that ensures strength, lightness and visual appeal, while fully aligning with an environmentally responsible approach.
The roof and upper facades in textile membrane provide optimal natural daylight thanks to the material’s translucency, significantly improving visual comfort for users. At the same time, they offer effective protection against the elements and help maintain a pleasant, tempered indoor environment. The overall design blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape with its light, modern appearance.
The lower facades made of sandwich panels ensure robustness and resistance to external stresses, contributing to the long-term durability of the building. Together, these elements create a gymnasium that is functional, durable and visually valuable for the community.
Indoor lighting reaches 500 lux, in line with standards for indoor sports practice, while heating is provided by gas radiant systems, ensuring thermal comfort and efficient energy management.
The gymnasium is equipped for multiple sports disciplines, including:
- Tennis net and handball goals
- Central basketball hoop and side basketball hoops, some of which can be folded onto the handball goals
This configuration allows several sports to be practiced in the same space while offering great flexibility in activity scheduling.
The multisport hall also includes benches and storage cabinets, making it easier to organize and store sports equipment. Every aspect of the gymnasium has been designed to optimize daily use while ensuring safety, comfort and functionality.
